Expo 2125 Venice: Technologies for a Vertically Displaced Future is a confrontational architectural exhibition set in Venice’s flood-prone Piazza San Marco. It explores vertical exile: how people adapt when rising waters, policy failure, or crisis make upward movement the only option. Blending theory and global case studies, the project critiques systems that produce displacement while highlighting the ingenuity of those forced to build upward using tarps, scaffolding, rafts, and scrap materials.
Our assemblage is both sculptural and functional, rising with floodwaters. It embraces contradiction: poetic yet practical, familiar yet radical. The expo rejects rigid order for an adaptive, layered structure shaped by urgency and resilience. By occupying a symbol of control, the exhibition forces visibility. Expo 2125 is not a solution, but a platform: an architecture of testimony for those who must ascend to survive.
